Grass Fed Meats
Raising animals on pasture is dramatically different from the status quo. Virtually all the meat, eggs, and dairy products that you find in the supermarket come from animals raised in confinement in large facilities called CAFOs or “Confined Animal Feeding Operations.”  These highly mechanized operations provide a year-round supply of food at a reasonable price. Although the food is cheap and convenient, there is growing recognition that factory farming creates a host of problems, including:

• Animal stress and abuse
• Air, land, and water pollution
• The unnecessary use of hormones, antibiotics, and other drugs
• Low-paid, stressful farm work
• The loss of small family farms
• Food with less nutritional value.

At Pondview Farm our cattle are happy, healthy, and spend their days grazing the rolling fields and when it’s hot, swimming in the pond! They are treated with TLC and respect throughout their lives, and that makes for delicious and healthy beef.

It’s Time to Order Highland Beef!

Our first beef harvest was ready in mid-November.  You may still book your order. The crop this year is going to be smaller than we planned, but just as delicious!  All cuts will be cryo-vac packaged, which means that the meat is flash frozen and then vacuum sealed in a plastic wrap.  We will have the following available:

Whole carcass (avg. HCW 550lb):  $3.50 per lb ($300.00 deposit)
Half Carcass (avg. HCW 275lb):  $3.65 per lb ($200.00 deposit)
Front Quarter: (avg. HCW 135lb):  $3.95 per lb ($125.00 deposit)
Hind Quarter: (avg. HCW 135lb) : $4.25 per lb ($125.00 deposit)

These prices are picked up at the farm, include butchering, cutting and wrapping, and are based on hanging carcass weight (HCW).  If you’re not sure where the cuts of meat you most enjoy come from, here is a chart to help you decide:

"Beef Made Easy: Retail Beef Cuts and Recommended Cooking Methods" (Cattlemen's Beef Board and National Cattlemen's Beef Association).
